We are seeking an HR & Benefits Specialist to lead the charge in administering and maintaining our employee benefit programs AND to help keep the HR team humming in day to day HR operations! This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, benefit onboarding, policy administration and employment & benefit law compliance.

First and foremost, Drybar is all about the experience! The HR & Benefits Specialist provides excellent customer service and monitors benefits administration to ensure that our team members are taken care of. The HR & Benefits Specialist also designs employee benefits plans and provides analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefit programs.

Human Resource Function

  • Responsible for departmental reporting for processing, company metrics such as turnover and bonus reports, and other ad hoc inquires. 
  • Works closely with payroll with regard to benefit deductions, rate changes, transfers, etc. 
  • Manages labor poster program through third party vendor to ensure all shop and company work locations have proper postings and are updated timely with any legal requirements or changes. Ensures posters are delivered on time for new shop openings.
  • Provides support to team members in various HR related topics such as leaves and benefits; resolve questions, issues and problems.
  • Promote HR programs to create awareness and team member engagement.
  • Review and assess efficiency of internal/external policies and processes and recommend appropriate changes.
  • Maintains and process Unemployment Notices of Entitlement and potential charges in a timely, efficient manner. Attends telephonic unemployment hearings when necessary
  • Constantly keeping informed about federal, state and city guidelines, and updating policies to reflect the guidelines. 

Benefits Function

  • Maintains and administers all lines of group and voluntary benefit programs including monthly reconciliation; Verifies benefit billing accuracy and processes for payment.
  • Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company’s benefit packages. 
  • Monitors team member eligibility for benefits plans. Reviews benefits with team members and processes enrollment, cancellation or changes; verifies eligibility and qualifying events to ensure compliance with the IRS guidelines.
  • Organizes and manages annual open enrollment communications and election process and other team member programs.
  • Prepare benefits packages for all new team members and each year for open enrollment for all locations. 
  • Conduct new hire benefit orientation meetings for Support Center team members. 
  • Work extensively with broker and carrier representatives to completely resolve escalated claims and benefits issues timely
  • Administers COBRA for group health plans.
  • Performs regular benefit audits to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintains integrity of the benefits enrollment system.
  • Manages and assist with 401k enrollment and administration and data uploads. 
  • Assists in the administration of leave procedures. Generates appropriate correspondence, tracks leaves, and maintains files as appropriate; coordinates the team member’s return to work with shop manager and/or district manager. 
  • Manages Commuter Benefits program; reconciles payments, bills, updates eligibility.
  • Monitors HR Benefit Inbox; responds to team member’s questions within 24 hours. 
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations. 
  • Other related job duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in similar field.
  • Minimum 2 year experience in human resources with an emphasis in benefit administration.
  • PHR is a plus, but not required
  • Strong knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, affecting employee benefits programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, CFRA, ADA, Section 125, Medicare, ACA, and DOL requirements.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Experience in multi-unit/multi-state retail operations and consumer products organizations with a large workforce of over 1,000 team members a plus.
